VOLONTEERING IN A THAI-KAREN HOSPITALITY TRAINING
CENTRE - PROJECT MANAGEMENT
CONTEXT
TBCAF & IECD opened a Hospitality and Catering Training Centre (HCTC) to provide underprivileged youth from
Mae Sot area with technical and professional skills. To enable the students to attend the program, the project
includes a boarding house.
The Tak Border Child Foundation (TBCAF) and the HCTC decided to collaborate with volunteers to bring extra the
skills needed to ensure the quality of the project.
THE MISSION
Dates of mission: February 2019 for a minimum of 3 months (starting date can be discussed)
Place of mission: the mission will take place in HCTC – Mae Pa Moo 10 – Mae Sot District – Tak Province,
Thailand

YOU WILL BE UNDERTAKING THE FOLLOWING TASKS
ü Supporting the Director in the supervision of the IRC (International Rescue Committee) - A 10 week program:
- Adapting the 12 week curricula to shorter program (8 weeks)
- Supervising the classes;
- Supporting the teachers in the training and teaching ;
- Providing feedback to the Director on the evolution of the students;
- Revising and updating de Curricula after & during the program if needed
- Writing reports
- Managing relationships between the school and the partner
ü Development of the training curriculum (Kitchen & Service):
Objectives: To formalize pedagogical engineering documents to guide trainers in the preparation and dispensing of
their teachings; Guarantee the continuity of the quality of training over time "Standardize" teaching at HCTC.
For all of these missions, you will work closely with the project manager and the professors who will be able to "feed
you" and with whom you will be able to validate in particular the aspects specific to the materials, and to rely on
existing resources to Adapting to our context and training modalities (ASEAN curricula).
Mission 1.1 Propose an organization of education progression over 2 years:
àDeliverables expected: Kitchen and Service Training Progress Sheets
Mission 1.2 Propose for each module an hourly volume and specify the contents of each module, with a cutting per
session (theme of each session):
à Expected deliverables: 1 sequence sheet for each module at the minimum
Mission 1.3 Prepare an evaluation sheet for each module:
à Deliverables expected: 1 evaluation sheet for each module
Mission 1.4 For each session, prepare: objectives; the list of topics to be addressed:
àDeliverables expected: 1 summary table of all sessions
Mission 1.5 Prepare session plans and educational resources for the modules:
àDeliverables expected: Detailed session plans and ready-to-use educational resources (some of which are built
directly with the trainer)
ü Coaching the trainers:
Objectives: To train and accompany trainers in the management of pedagogical engineering materials; Train
and accompany trainers in the conduct of a session and evaluation
Mission 2.1 train teachers to read and use a progression:
àDeliverables expected: Understanding and ability to handle progress card
Mission 2.2 train teachers to read and use a sequence sheet:
àDeliverables expected: Understanding and ability to handle progress card
Mission 2.3 Train teachers to read and use a session sheet:
àDeliverables expected: Understanding and ability to handle the session card
Mission 2.4 Train The professors in the preparation of a session sheet and a session conduct:
àDeliverables expected: Ability to prepare and use a session sheet, mobilizing adequate pedagogical resources;
Ability to review the session sheet following its use; Ability to complete the teaching workbook
Mission 2.5 train teachers in the preparation and conduct of an evaluation
àDeliverables expected: Ability to prepare and conduct module evaluation
ü Support the director in some of her tasks:
- Helping in the recruitment process of the staff;
- Supporting the team while the director is on business trips
- Re-reading of the reports;
ü Support the team in teaching classes
ü Other projects may apply depending on the needs
